A Time Tested Option

Incidences of diabetes are at an all time high with the level of newly reported cases up a staggering 48% in the last 10 years*. In many cases, the resulting neuropathic limbs mean that diabetic ulcers on the feet are a distinct and very dangerous possibility. Since pressure and abrasion are the enemies of wound care, the OrthoWedge™ is designed to naturally reduce the number of steps taken by the patient while still allowing them to ambulate when necessary. The DARCO OrthoWedge has been tested under fire in both clinical and real world settings and continues to produce outstanding results. When forefoot off-loading is required to allow wounds/ulcerations under the metatarsal heads and toes to heal, nothing beats the OrthoWedge.

When used alone, the OrthoWedge Healing Shoe reduces forefoot pressure by as much as 57% and peak pressure is reduced by as much as 75% under the Great Toe!

ADD ON OPTION: PegAssist Features and Benefits

I ordered this shoe on Wednesday and received it on Friday. The shoe is exactly as described and was what was needed for the type of surgery that was done on the foot. The shoe was well constructed and very durable.

worked great
I purchased this shoe after being in the doctor's office and seeing someone with it on. I was one week post surgery (2 toes shortened and one straightened) and was barely starting to put pressure on my foot. I was in a regular post-surgical shoe. They told me to just walk on my heel. Well, this was more easily stated than actually done. Once I got this shoe, it was MUCH easier to do this. This shoe was a good transition from starting to weight bear on the heel to a boot. I was very happy with it. ps... I ordered a size up as I was at the upper edge of the range, plus I had a pin sticking out of my toe. This provided plenty of room for the pin.

Item was exactly as described, easy to customize, and just what the doctor ordered at a price roughly 80% less than at the medical shoe store where I purchased a poorly assembled shoe previously. Buy the insole, follow the directions and don't forget to use the adhesive part of the liner. Quick shipping, too!
