Follow each step below to help you decide
what you need for your waterproof cast.
A waterproof cast is simply made up of two parts. Waterproof Padding and Fiberglass casting tape. Both of those components are waterproof materials. Our Kits are waterproof padding only. However you can also add fiberglass casting tape to the kit. Read below.
Step #1. Choose the type of padding option you prefer.
You have the option to either choose a single one piece design or to use the traditional roll method. Most customers choose the form fit for ease of a single piece and lower price. If your thumb needs immobilized you may need to choose the rolls. Small children will not fit the form fit. NOTE: The padding only comes in WHITE. The color choice, is available when you choose to add fiberglass casting tape to the kit.

Step#2. Each kit comes with 1-ft. of deflex protective strip.
This strip is used under the cast during cast removal.
This helps to prevent skin contact with the cast saw during removal.

Step#3. Now to choose the correct size amounts for the patient.

(Note: Doctors do carry this in their office. However, they may not
have the color you want or they could run out of it. This way you
guarantee you have the color you want.)
YOU MUST ADD CAST TAPE TO THE KIT IT IS NOT INCLUDED
IT IS AN EXTRA CHARGE ADD ON ABOVE.
This is the outer hard shell of the cast. (You must choose this as an add on, it is extra in price.)

GORE PROCEL® Cast Liner, formerly known as GORE Cast Liner, is a unique waterproof, breathable cast padding that allows you to continue your normal routine at home and at work without worrying about keeping your cast dry. Used in place of cotton underneath a fiberglass cast, GORE PROCEL® Cast Liner allows you to:
Bathe or shower
Minimize cast odor and itching
Swim
Wash your hands
Bathe your children
Begin hydrotherapy
Wash the dishes, the car, the dog - without the hassle of trying to protect your cast from getting wet.
When a fiberglass cast padded with GORE PROCEL® Cast Liner gets wet, most of the water drains quickly out of the ends of your cast. The remaining moisture is warmed by body heat, becomes vapor and passes through the Cast Liner and fiberglass casting tape. No special drying is necessary.
Clinical experience throughout the country confirms GORE PROCEL® Cast Liner patients value the freedom of being able to get their cast wet. In fact, 98% of patients who have used GORE PROCEL® Cast Liner would recommend it to others. |
